Chicago-based UnitedService Companies welcomes new director of government relations

UnitedService Companies, a leading provider of cleaning, staffing and security services for industries like conventions, hotels, hospitals and aviation, welcomes David “Dave” Copp as their new director of government relations.

Copp has held numerous high ranking positions in both private and public sector industries. Over the course of his career, he has served as an operating officer, chief financial officer, chief of staff and commanding officer in the U.S. Navy.

“Not only is Dave a decorated military officer with a distinguished career in the United States Navy, but he also possesses an incredible business acumen,” said Richard “Rick” Simon, president and CEO of UnitedService Companies. “I am proud to have Dave as a part of our team. I believe his talents and his experience will serve us well as we continue to expand our business into the government sector.”

During his tenure with the U.S. Navy, Copp spent twenty years at sea where he was awarded the Burke Prize for Inspirational Leadership. In fact, he is the recipient of many military awards including the Defense Superior Service Medal, multiple Defense Meritorious Service Medals, six Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, and numerous campaign and unit excellence awards, including three Battle Efficiency Awards.

In his most recent position, Copp served as the principal assistant and chief of staff to the now 25th Secretary of Defense. Prior to that, he was the COO and CFO at SBD Advisors, a firm that helps its clients successfully navigate complex political, business, media and U.S. regulatory environments.

Copp holds a Master of Arts Degree from the United States Naval War College, is a graduate of Joint Forces Staff College, U.S. Naval Staff College and has a Bachelor’s of Science from Jacksonville University. He is also involved with various initiatives supporting transitioning servicemen and women and assisting families of the fallen.
